BEAVER COUNTY ICE ARENA The reconstruction process is targeted to be completed by mid-September. The Board of Commissioners approved expenditures totaling nearly $100,000 for these improvements. The public areas of the ice arena lobby, tennis lobby and observation area are being painted. Also new rubber mats will be installed throughout the arena lobby and ice arena perimeters. There will be new carpeting installed in the tennis lobby and the upstairs observation area and offices. The hockey locker rooms have all been painted and the floors in them are being scrubbed. The ventilation system has now been cleaned thoroughly. On the outside of the building where the fire was, the siding panels have been replaced. The Zamboni garage floor has been jack hammered and a new concrete floor will be poured as the garage is rebuilt. The inner walls of the ice arena still need to be replaced, as do a few sections of the outer roof. Once this has been done new ceiling insulation will be installed. After all of this takes place the process of power washing the ice arena floor and repainting the floor will take place. Finally the ice can be laid. Two Zambonies are scheduled to be delivered around September 1, 2008. Check back for more updates as they become available.
